The Grammar Junior School is a proud member of a group of companies, alongside The Grammar School Nicosia. It was founded in 1970 by Ioannis and Iro Gregoriou—two visionary educators whose passion for nurturing young minds helped shape the landscape of English-language education in Cyprus. Originally named The Private English Junior School, it was created as a cornerstone of their mission to provide children with a strong academic foundation rooted in values, character, and care.
During the 1970s, the school operated in Agios Dhometios, Nicosia, in a modest building with just a few rooms, a small number of children, and a dedicated staff. Yet even then, it stood out for its warmth, close-knit community, and unwavering dedication to each child’s growth. In 1981, The Grammar Junior School moved to its current home—purpose-built premises that have since evolved into a vibrant, state-of-the-art learning environment. Today, the school continues to flourish, offering a dynamic curriculum supported by modern facilities, innovative teaching, and a nurturing atmosphere.
The legacy of Ioannis and Iro Gregoriou is not only remembered but actively lived through the leadership of their children, Sylvana Eleftheriadou and Akis Gregoriou. As co-directors of both The Grammar Junior School and The Grammar School, they uphold the values of integrity, academic excellence, and human-centred education that have defined the schools for decades. Their vision ensures that every child who walks through the school’s doors is given the tools, inspiration, and confidence to thrive—not just academically, but as compassionate, capable individuals ready to shape the future.
